day eleven

Ahhh. My first fail. It’s past midnight, and I haven’t posted my picture of the day.  No excuse, I just forgot. But at least I’m posting it before I go to bed so I technically haven’t missed a day….right..?

Either way, I have a picture.  At the end of the Real Marriage conference, Christian singer/song writer, Warren Barfield, talked about an organization called Food for the Hungry.  I’m gonna be pretty honest here, I’ve always been a little skeptical about child sponsor programs because it’s easy to send money to those in need; it’s a completely different situation to build a relationship with that person.  And to be even more honest, serving is not one of my strongsuits.  I can help someone through an emotional issue, no problem, but when it comes to people’s physical needs, I’m really really terrible at reaching out to them.  So when Warren introduced this program and explained how sponsors are able to keep in touch with these kids, and are even allowed opportunities to visit them, I felt like maybe this was God’s way of telling me to let go of my pride and help out someone else for a change.  I’m not saying God audibly said to sponsor a child, but I think he’s been working on my heart lately to turn my motives from selfish to selfless.
So my picture for the day is simply a picture of Ema, the little diva from Peru that I chose to sponsor today.  I’m really excited about this, and I hope the Lord will to big things through such a small sponsorship.
